Cheeto-Satan Is In Town (& OTHER UPDATES! PLEASE VOTE FOR ME.MORY!)
Trump is here in my native city, but he will not be here for long. Such is what I think of his time in Philadelphia, and what I believe should be the case for his presidency too.
I have not yet called him "President". I likely won't and/or can't do it.
I tell myself that "Embarrassment" is in front of his last name instead.
As noted in my last post, I have been working on self-care given this situation. I changed my notification settings on FB mobile given the drastic increase in posts, such that I will not see how many "unseen notifications" I have until I decide to open the app. Such is a relief, as I am instead choosing to see FB and wondering what has been noted since I last looked, without my feeling a pressure to see it (as if social media were an obligation I would "feel behind in" if I didn't check it enough. Perhaps a number of readers feel it is just that now).
While it feels "so late", some of the media is calling "lies" exactly that, "lies": http://www.phillymag.com/news/2017/01/26/trump-murder-rate-philadelphia/
It's a known fact that crime has been decreasing since the time I was a child, not increasing. If someone gets their information from a source other than "alternative facts", then they'll likely know the truth of the matter.
Such an approach may have led into why our rating has decreased now, from "Full" to "Flawed" as a democracy, although this article points out that this data did not incorporate the results of our election. Rather, it's a longer-term trend: http://www.vox.com/world/2017/1/25/14385728/economist-intelligence-unit-...
It's embarrassing though to see how Fox News has to pander a bit, to people likely having voted for him: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/01/26/no-murder-surge-in-philly-despite-t...
"President Donald Trump made a misleading claim when he told Republican lawmakers Thursday that Philadelphia's murder rate has been 'terribly increasing.'"
Why "misleading"? What happened to the stronger word of "false"?
When even Fox is sharing such stories though...
IN OTHER NEWS:
In the realm of self-care, I enjoyed seeing "Grosse Pointe Blank" with my girlfriend tonight. It's an amusing "comedy crime film" starring John Cusack from 1997. It was quite funny to see the mobile phones from that time as they had to be opened and have the antenna pulled up to make or receive calls.
I otherwise have resumed writing my book at one-hour-per-day now that I'm settled again post-Sweden. It's now at roughly 146 pages of material to work with further.
